Relay Graduate School’s “Getting Better, Faster!” framework is a professional development model that works well for supporting new specialists. Coaches who follow this model collect evidence of their mentees' progress on a weekly basis and use that information to deliver clear action-oriented feedback with specific action steps. This approach is typically aimed at changing practice quickly.
Critical Friends Groups (CFGs) are structured professional learning communities designed to foster collaboration among educators. Using specific protocols, CFGs facilitate focused discussions, collaborative inquiry, and the provision of constructive feedback to improve teaching practices. Emphasizing trust, confidentiality, and diverse perspectives, these groups create a supportive environment for educators to reflect on their experiences and collectively work towards continuous improvement.
